It’s Friday everyone, hooray! So glad it’s nearly the weekend after a busy week in work. I have spent a large amount of my free time making sure everything is organised for our holiday, doing pilates or watching the Commonwealth Games.  This weekend I’m planning on having quite a creative weekend so look out for some crafty/creative posts coming soon. One I’m particularly eager to start is a handmade camera strap. Heres a little list of whats made me happy this week.

1. Making the best spaghetti bolognese that I’ve ever made. Served along with bruchetta and lots of parmesan cheese, of course!

2. Watching the Commonwealth games and getting all patriotic when Scotland do well.

3. Having my Mum round for dinner.

4. Putting together a ‘new home’ gift set for my best friend. I got the idea from an Australian company called Bindle.

5. Spending Thursday night with Rory. He’s been working late every night this week and Thursday was his night off. It’s amazing how much I miss just seeing his face and hearing his news from the day.

6. Banana cake. Served warm with a cup of tea. The best!

7. Spending time at night-time before bed reading lots of inspiring and creative blogs.

8. Meeting the adorable bulldog puppy from next door. It is the cutest, wrinkliest, chubbiest thing ever. He’s called Winston. Bless 🙂

9. Getting to dress down to work. Its a lot nicer getting to wear jeans and a baggy sweater into work rather than formal work clothes.

10. Cherries. I am addicted.

I hope you have a great weekend lined up 🙂

Happy Saturday everyone! This week has been one of those weeks where the days have just dragged by! I’ve been busy, don’t get me wrong, but I think the combination of wonderful weather and my fast approaching holiday has put me in a bit of a lazy mood with regards to work and the days have felt like watching paint dry. Of course, once I get out of work and start heading home it’s fine. Does anyone else have days like this? Apart from work being.. well, work, this week has been a good one.

This weekend we’re planning to have a BBQ with Rorys family, I can’t wait, his mum always produces the most mouth watering platefuls of food. We’re looking forward to it! In the meantime, here’s a little list of what’s made me most happy this week…

1. Peanut butter on toast.. or just a spoonful of it out the jar! I can’t get enough of it.

2. Reading in Princes Street gardens during my hour lunch break. I love getting out in the sun for a bit to break up the working day, however, I usually just people watch, but the past week I have taken a book with me for a change. I will definitely be doing it again. I’m currently reading  The Pure Gold Baby by Margaret Drabble.

3.  Water. Lots of it. I’ve been trying to drink more throughout the day and I am beginning to really feel the difference.

4. Hearing that the Great British Bakeoff will be starting again! Hooray! Wednesday 6th August everyone! 🙂

5. Spending an afternoon with Tilly, my families cocker spaniel. She makes me laugh so much, she spent most of the afternoon playing with an old tennis ball that she found in the garden.

6. Discovering the youtube music channel Wave of Good Noise. It has introduced me to some really great music and I’ve been loving relaxing to them at night time before bed.

7. Going for dinner with my best friend Cara. We went to Gourmet Burger Kitchen as neither of us had been before and had heard really good things about it. The burgers were amazing! So many combinations to choose from, I eventually decided on “The Don” a delicious arrangement of American cheese, gorgonzola, baconnaise, rocket, onion jam, house mayo & pickled onion all sandwiched between a brioche bun. We had a really nice catchup!

8. Purchasing my very first Trouve Magazine. I am fed up of reading your everyday celebrity magazines.. infact I can’t say i’ve ever liked them. Trouve is a breath of fresh air and celebrates creativity.

9. Essie ruffles & feathers and wearing it constantly. Such a beautiful summery green colour.

10. Holiday planning 🙂 15 days to go!

Hope you’re all having a lovely weekend 🙂

Sunday already! Where has this week gone. I hope you’ve had a lovely week? I woke up at the start of this week feeling really full of energy and super productive, and so I rode the productivity wave and tried to fit in as much as possible. We had absolutely amazing weather this week which always makes me feel the need to get outside and enjoy it while it lasts. This weekend i’ve had to entertain myself as Rory was working, but it actually gave me a chance to refresh and have a good clean and general tidy up of the flat. Here’s a little list of all the other little things that’ve made me most happy this week…

1. Long evening walks in the sunshine with Rory

2. Completing a session of cardio Pilates. I felt so alive and refreshed afterwards. If anyone has been toying with the idea of taking up pilates. Do it! It’s amazing!

3. Starting drawing again. I used to love art and studied it at college after I’d left school but the past few years I’ve been neglecting my art supplies. Time to restart my long lost love I think.

4. The delicious white chocolate cookies i made. Best served fresh out the oven with a cup of tea.

5. Spending Wednesday night making up a new house hamper for my best friend who’s just bought her first house together with her boyfriend. So happy for them 🙂

6. Getting to see Tilly (my families mad cocker spaniel). She always give the best welcome home greeting.

7. Treating myself to some new underwear. I always feel a bit guilty when I buy new underwear just because it’s so expensive! However, i decided it was time for a new addition to my underwear drawer.

8. Delicious pulled pork burgers for Saturday nights dinner. We even scraped the oven dish, it was so good 🙂

9. Rory making me breakfast in bed on Saturday morning. He does infact have a romantic side to him!

10. Clearing the laundry basket. Mundane, but true.

What’s made you most happy this week? 🙂

Happy Saturday everyone! I’ve had such a hectic busy week and am quite glad it’s all over. It’s been a glorious Saturday, we’ve had sunshine all day and I’ve been enjoying myself lounging in the garden and playing tennis with Rory. I haven’t played it in years so was a bit rusty to say the least!  Rory’s now away to work so I thought I’d use this time updating studio habitat. So for a little light reading over the weekend here’s my list of what’s made me most happy this week!

1. Being given the chance to meet and chat with other interior designers from Edinburgh and getting feedback on my portfolio. It fills me with such pride getting to present my work to them and seeing their genuine interest.

2. Dancing around the house in the evenings to some long forgotten music and feeling complete happiness.

3.  Tasting every different iced latte I come across until I find my favourite. Today I tasted illy issimo Latte Macchiato, which can be found in Tescos.

4. Coming home to parcels full of the gorgeous summer dresses I have been ordering for my holiday away to Rome.

5. Playing tennis with Rory, it’s the first time we’ve played a proper sport together, other than cycling. It was a very enjoyable experience.. I think he was surprised at how competitive I got!

6. The beautiful flowers that were for sale at our local farmers market.

7. Having a spontaneous last-minute dinner with my mum on Thursday night at one of the most delicious Italian restaurants I’ve been to in a while.

8. Getting back in to the swing of Pilates and reaping the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. Thank goodness for Cassey from Blogilates, with her amazing motivational skills and engaging tutorials.

9. Researching our next holiday destination for Rory’s birthday in November. We’re hoping to get away to somewhere in Scandinavia for a long weekend. Any recommendations would be very much appreciated. So far we are keen on Sweden but as we’ve never been before it would be great to get some inside information on the best places to stay, eat and visit etc.

10. Looking forward to my Sunday with Rory. We’re planning on going to Crieff Hydro for the day if the weather stays sunny, and wandering through the grounds and relaxing with a few ciders in the sunshine.

What’s made you happy this week? 🙂

Oh thank goodness this working week is over. It has been extremely tiring and there have been way too many early mornings for my liking. My body definitely doesn’t like 5.00am wake ups.  I’m ready for a good long sleep this weekend, and some time spent with family and friends. Scotland has had great weather over the past week as well so I’m hoping it stays around over the weekend!

We have very little planned, which is good! One thing we do need to do is figure out what we still need to get for our summer holiday, perfect timing too, seeing as the sales have now begun. Hooray!… I actually hate the whole sales experience so I would preferably like to spend as little time in the shops as possible. Me and madness of sales shopping just don’t go. It stresses me out.

I used to work in Next when I was still at school and witnessed my fair share of ‘Next Sales’… need i say anymore. Anyway, enough of my ranting. I hope you’ve got a lovely weekend ahead of you! Here’s a little list of what’s made me happy this past week.

1. Finding my iPod USB cable, I can finally update the songs on it!

2. Making my way through a pile of books that have been sitting for some time collecting dust. They include Life after Life by Kate Atkinson, The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith and The Five People You Meet In Heaven. This last one was such a lovely, hopeful and thought provoking work of fiction, I don’t think I’ve ever sobbed as much over a book as I did at the bittersweet ending of this one. I would thoroughly recommend.

3. Finding the perfect pair of heeled sandals for me to take on holiday. They were in the sale too!

4. Purchasing this beautiful desk lamp from notonthehighstreet.com

5. Sitting outside in the evening basking in the warm sunshine.

6. Finding the motivation to restart Pilates after a rather naughty break.

7. Iced lattes! I could drink them all day!

8. The tragic look on Rory’s face when I told him we were having cauliflower base pizza for dinner on Tuesday evening. And the look of sheer joy when he realised he would be working late so would miss out on (what I think) the delicious creation. He’s really not a fan.. 🙂

9. Hearing from my best friend when she came back from her holiday. She’s been away for a week, it felt like a month. How i missed her daily chats.

10. Pink Lady apples. Preferably fridge-cold.

What’s made you happy this week? 🙂

Happy Friday! I hope you’ve had a great week. This weekend I’m planning on visiting family and fitting in as much relaxation time as possible, I feel really run down this week. Definitely in need of a holiday to warmer climates soon! I also intend to drink a lot of coffee, eat too many raspberries (I’m a bit addicted to them at the moment) and also get round to reading some magazines I’ve had sitting waiting to be read for a while. Frankies new edition has been sitting waiting for over a week, and I still need to catch up with Delicious and Living Etc. What are your plans for this weekend? Here’s my run down of what’s made me happy this week.

1. Eating bowlfuls of healthy chicken minestrone soup with home-made oatcakes (traditional Scottish recipe and photos coming soon).

2. Watching my chili plants grow from strength to strength, they now have pretty white flowers blossoming on them.

3. Sitting outside in the sunshine on my lunch break. It’s so nice getting out of the office for an hour and Edinburgh is such a pretty City in the summer.

4. Going for walks along the canal after eating too much at dinner.

5. The smell of freshly laundered clothes.

6. Dior Vernis Summer Mix, Sunnies nail polish. It’s been providing me with summer vibes all week long, even though the weather’s been quite grey and miserable at times.

7. Stocking up on summer clothes, I go to Rome in August and so obviously I needed to buy some new clothes.

8. Natural yoghurt. I just can’t get enough of it.

9. Writing down favourite recipes to go into my recipe folder. I love looking through the little notes in my Mums old cookery books and scraps of notepaper she’d scribbled recipes onto. I’ve been trying to get into the habit of making paper copies of my favourites to continue this tradition.

10. The new dishes I bought from Toast. I love how simple and rustic they look.

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you’ve had a great week? I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend after a pretty busy couple of days. I can’t believe it’s Friday already, it’s come around ridiculously quickly this week. It seems as though the weeks are just flying by at the moment, don’t you think?

I hope you all have a great weekend ahead of you! Here’s a little list of what’s made me most happy the past week…

1.Brie, apple + oat cakes. I love brie. Nearly as much as I love camember, and jarlsberg and Edam and… okay I love most cheese!
2. late night baking. raspberry buttermilk cake at half past nine! I couldnt resist.
3. New clothes. I don’t shop online all that often, but every once in a while having a batch of parcels delivered to the house is so exciting.
4.The hour or so that Rory and I spend catching up on our days, just before going to sleep. It’s such a great bedtime story.

5. A four day week at work! I love bank holiday Mondays.

6. Chats with my mum after a hectic day at work. She always know what to say to make me laugh 🙂

7. Puppy sitting over the long weekend. It was so lovely to have my daft cocker spaniel with me, she went on lots of new adventures through the woods near my house.

8. Waking up to sunshine streaming in through the windows, it puts you in a wonderful mood for the rest of the day.

9. Reading through old copies of Living Etc magazine, and turning down corners of things I like.

10. The smell of woods in the rain. I always feel so relaxed and peaceful.

Happy Friday everyone!

I hope you’ve all had a lovely week and are enjoying the bank holiday weekend.  We’ve not got a huge amount planned this weekend. I am puppy sitting this weekend which I’m incredibly excited about! I collect Tilly, my families cocker spaniel later on today, after I’ve had my hair cut and then she’s spending Saturday and Sunday night with us. It’s the first time she’s stayed in our house over night so we could be in for an eventful weekend. Here’s what’s made me most happy in the past week!…

1. Summer time showers. the smell of rain is the best.

2. Reading the new volume of Kinfolk snuggled up in bed after a long days work.

3. The smell of suntan lotion on my skin.

4. Getting into a bed made up with fresh bed linen.

5. Purchasing some new clothes from The White Company.  Their collection this season has been beautiful. I treated myself to their Sparkle Batwing Jumper in a lovely dusky pink colour as well as their Jersey Biker jacket in cloud marl. Hope they arrive in time for the weekend!

5. WEDNESDAY NACHO NIGHT! We ate homemade nachos. It was so completely awesome, and made a rainy Wednesday evening a hundred times better

6. Tuesday’s Pilates. It was a toughie, and left me feeling achy in the best kind of way. I have only just started pilates having recently found a blog called Blogilates which produces monthly workout calendars. I am currently working my way through their beginners work out calender. The creator of this blog, Cassey, is so inspirational and really motivates you throughout the programme!

7. Making lists. I’ve been running around like a headless chicken this week (for no good reason at all!) and lists are all that’s kept me sane!

8. Making fresh coffee each morning. I love the ritual of filling up the little espresso pot and waiting for it to boil. Rory and I convinced ourselves last weekend that our lives were incomplete without a Nespresso coffee machine so that has been added to our shopping list of things to save for.

9.Having Rory home with me all Thursday night. He often works late so i cherish the times I do get to spend with him. It was lovely just to cuddle with him on the sofa while watching Harry Potter and the deathly hallows, part 2.

10. Having fresh flowers in the house. I’m going to try to make this a regular thing.

What are your Friday Favourites?
